youchoob top 5 for today

I was surfing youchoob today while eating. One video led to another and I decided to make a list.

1. MXPX - Tomorrow is another day

This song has a special place in my heart. Actually, the whole album brings back good memories. It was about 2001-2002 and it was just my brother and I living at our old house in Las Pinas. My parents and my sister were in Milan at the time, so kaming dalawa lang ni bunso ang housemates. On weekends we'd go to SM Southmall to buy groceries. Our car stereo was old and we never bothered upgrading so we relied on cassette tapes for our sounds. We always scoured bargain bins for good deals, and good deals we did find. Like No Doubt's 'Beacon Street Collection' for 25 pesos! We also found MXPX's 'Slowly going the way of the buffalo' and it instantly became our soundtrack to our weekly drive to buy groceries. This is one of my favorite songs from the album. A dose of positivity.

2. Ozma - Eponine

I love this song. I love this band. I think they are the most underrated band ever. Seriously! But this is the first time I've ever seen the 'Official' video of this song. And I must say, I am disturbed. No joke. I'm severely disturbed. See for yourself:

3. Protest the Hero - Sequoia Throne

This band is Canadian. That automatically makes them awesome. I like how technical and intense these guys are, but I'm not a big fan of the 'power metal' vocals. Kinda cheesy, but hey. This isn't my favorite song, but I find the video hilarious. I'd run away from that man's bigote, or "porn-tache".

4. Mos Def - Freestyle

Mos Def is the man. Here's proof.

5. Bright Eyes - First day of my life

This song and video melts my heart. Always has, always will. This one is for you. Yes, you mintmask. <3

Altogether now... "Eeeeeww"

Okay so today, we got a stack of the latest edition of "Kabayan Times," a free pinoy newspaper. Normally they have the corniest jokes in the joke section. But this edition was... different. Here's what was written:

PILOSOPONG SALESLADY
Salesgirl: Sir, you can't smoke here!
Customer: But I bought these cigars from your store.
Salesgirl: We also sell condoms, but it doesn't mean you can f*ck here!

WEAKNESS
Guy: Love, yan ang dati kong girlfriend.
Jowa: Ang pangit pangit naman!!!
Guy: Wala akong magagawa, yan talaga ang weakness ko ever since...

VOGUE MAGAZINE
Amo: Inday, kunin mo nga yung VOGUE magazine!
Inday: Mam, VOGYU hindi VOG.
Amo: Inday, VOG ang tamang pagbigkas.
Inday: O sige na nga mam VOG na, there's no need to ARG.

And the Pièce de résistance:

8. A time machine!

Let's see... I can't really tag anyone because the only people who read this have also been tagged...

Mememememe

As you all know, if the girls jump off a cliff, I will follow shortly after.

So this is how it goes:

1. There are 30 secret questions.

2. Next to each number, write only the name of the person who fits.

3. Answer each question using only one name each. (yes, yes, I'm a cheat.)

4. Don't tell the questions to anyone who isn't doing the meme.

Green?

First, I want you to forget the word 'blog'. Before reading the sentences below, I want you to pretend you don't know what the word 'blog' means. It is a word that is not in your vocabulary. Wala na? Game.

"I love your blogs."

"I like looking at your blogs."

"Adik ako sa blogs mo."

"Nakakaiyak naman ang blogs mo."

"Nakita na ba ng iba ang blogs mo? Or private lang?"

"Nakakalat sa internet ang blogs mo."

"Natutuwa ako sa blogs mo."

Things that made me smile today...

* Smart (the telecom company) is organizing a free concert here in Rome on October 5. They left a few flyers here at the office to promote the event. A customer came in and asked me, "Magkano ang ticket dito sa libreng concert?"

* The weather. I wore a cardigan this morning!

* Spam and rice.

* The possibility that our older officemate might be 'supot' (I don't want to find out the truth)

* These little grapes that taste like strawberries.

* Polar burr.

* I'd look like Lionel Ritchie if I were a black woman in the 80s.

* Curly weeds.

When it rains, it pours

You know how people ask the oh-so-original question "Are you ok?" and normally the answer is "I'm fine" whether it's true or not? I don't usually say that. If you asked me right now if I were ok, I'd say "Eff no." But I will refrain from posting blogs that contain drama.

Starting now.

This blog is drama free... unless by drama I say "Wow, kita pwet ni Sam Milby sa Dyosa." No wait, that's tsismis. Sige, I'll fill this blog with tsismis instead.

Did you know:

Vina Morales is secretly in love with me.

Don't believe me? Ang ebidensya...

What did she mean by "see you soon" hmmm? It can only mean one thing. I am so Rico Suave it hurts.

I'm back...

... and I don't feel too good. No, I'm not sick. Just heartbroken. I need to get away.

I would love to be on the beach right now... with a mango shake... and some grilled fish... and halo-halo... lightly toasted... mmm...

Masama akong tao

We're having our annual teambuilding exercises this weekend. I'll be gone starting tomorrow night until Tuesday afternoon. We'll be at the same Italian villa from last year, somewhere in the boonies out in Umbria. According to the owners of the villa, Norwegian Big Brother was shot at that place. (Okay it might have been another Scandinavian country; Norway was just the first that popped into my mind) The big big boss is coming to visit tomorrow and he's coming with us on our trip. He's one of the sons of Eugenio Lopez Jr. the founder of ABS-CBN. He's cool and down to earth, so it's all good. The thing is, our marketing department suddenly got this idea to get proper photos for this event since we'll all be together and it's the 5th anniversary of the company. So they asked me to do the photos. I've arranged for the rental of studio lights chuchu etc etc. This is my second time working with studio lights. Other than that I have virtually no experience using them. That other shoot just happened to be with Juday and Giselle Santos. Imagine the pressure. Now I have to take over 40 portrait photos of my fellow workmates, large group photos per department, and I'm assuming a huge-ass group photo of everybody. So I've been watching studio light tutorials on youtube.com for the past few hours.

I'm probably going to hell for posting this but...

This man has no neck!!!

"Would you like it if I called you Manila???"

Russell Peters is a funny man. And he's Canadian. The part about Filipinos is so true.

It reminds me of this story my brother told me. It was years ago in elementary school when he was on the school bus. They were at a stop light. A stereotypical Indian guy on a motorcycle stopped next to them. This prompted the kids on the bus to yell out "Bumbay! Bumbay! Hahahahah! Bumbay!" which is absolutely ridiculous, but you know how kids are. What I found hilarious was his response:

"WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF I CALLED YOU MANILA?! MANILA MANILA MANILA!!!"

my back hurts

My back has been aching since Monday. I know that's not the best way to start a new blog but what the hey. I want to write whatever is on my mind at the moment. I've been inspired again to write by miss A. The keyboard is a little rusty and I don't know what's supposed to go here but we'll see how this progresses. I hope procrastination doesn't get the best of me. Again.

Anyhoo, I just got back from the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps with my officemates. Our news bureau chief Danny Buenafe arrived earlier this afternoon and he wanted to get a cappuccino at 9pm and we decided to go all sosyal and go to Trevi for a cappuccino. Ok ka lolo. Yeah, we call him lolo or tatang at times. He's like the lolo I never had. My actual lolos passed away when I was still young so I never really got to bond with them. Danny, or DKB for short, has been a reporter since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Grabe sya magkwento, sobrang detailed. You should hear him talk about the EDSA revolution; I swear it's better than any history class I've taken. He's also got the inside scoop on many artistas. Oh I know the truth about Sharon Cuneta. Of course I won't post it here. Check my youtube account instead. Joke. Hanging out with DKB is also like hanging out with a celeb... well... kind of. We make fun of him when people ask to take a picture with him. Most of the time he has lola groupies, those aged 50 and above. Idol!
