In tents!

This morning sucked.

So much work partly due to the incompetence and laziness of certain co-workers. Though I will not cast the first stone, since I have been prone to laziness myself. Actually, it's more of an apathetic feeling toward work. Which leads to laziness.

The afternoon didn't get much better, since I was scrambling to finish as much work as possible because I was taking the afternoon off to check on the status of my papers here in Italy. This would entail a 15 minute subway ride, followed by a 1 hour long inter-city train, ending with a 20 minute walk, more or less.

I finally made it to the boonies, where my papers are currently being processed (held hostage). Releasing was from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. It was 3:35pm so I made it there in time... but there was a buttload of people. I made my way to the front, asked about the status of my papers, and was greeted by the bluest pair of eyes I've ever seen on a policeman. I admit, homeboy was medyo nakakabakla. But once he started talking, oh man did I just want to knock his teeth out. Ang sungit nya, at ang bastos pa. He said if my name wasn't on the list, then the papers aren't ready. I had an appointment last June 2008, and they told me to come back around September because it should be ready by then. I checked the website regularly for any updates, but there weren't any. So going there in person seemed like the best way to get a real update, since their website isn't updated religiously. I tried explaining this to Mickey Blue Eyes but he didn't care. I said, "It has been almost a year since my renewal and it's still not ready?" And he just gave me this look as if to say, "Yeah... we move slow. I don't really care. I'm getting my eyebrows waxed later." There was no point in arguing with this guy any further, so I left.

The pace of my walk screamed defeat. I sought refuge in this tiny 'mall' that was on the way back to the train station. I bought myself a late lunch comfort pizza, pulled out my phone and tried to make a call to a comforting voice, but my battery was dead. Great. At least the pizza was good.

I then hopped on a train and made a stop at our old house. I need to visit our old landlord to pick up the unclaimed house deposit from last year. It was odd... the 10 minute walk from station to the house was part of my daily routine for years. Today was the first time in almost a year since I walked this path. Comforting, yet sad. I finally reach the house and spoke to the landlord for quite a bit. Madaldal ang matandang iyon. But it's okay; I get to practice my Italian. After calculating the bills and other expenses, it seems as if we ended up owing them money! Baliktad! I came to claim the remainder of the deposit, but apparently the leftover expenses were bigger than the deposit... so now we owe them 109 euro. She said we could pay anytime. How am I going to explain this to my parents? I'm sure they're not going to pay. The charges were kinda ridiculous. 300 euro for a damaged couch? Come on, it was an antique. Hmm... maybe that's why it cost that much. I'm thinking though, we lived in that house for almost 6 years... couldn't they just give us a break and let the 109 euro slide? In any case, I don't think my parents are going to pay, and there's no penalty if we don't pay anyway. It was just sad that they didn't take into consideration the number of years we stayed. Haaay.

/end rant

So yeah... up until that point, things weren't going so well. I took comfort in a phone call that accompanied me all the way to my destination. Thank you ♥ I was also listening to my iPod which I haven't used in a long time. My companion through countless train rides. I was inspecting it again as if it were the first time I had seen it. I was pleasantly suprised to find this wedged in the secret pocket of my iPod case:

I remember slipping this in the pocket a few months ago :)

As soon as I arrived in Milan, I decided to take a long walk. I passed through Castelo Sforzesco and sat by the fountain for a few minutes. Nag muni-muni. Then I continued my walk. My feet led me to a certain store where I made an unexpected purchase that made my day a whole lot better. Guess what it was?

Shoes? No.

Ice cream? No.

Pornography? No, no, no.

I bought this:

Siret na?

*giggle*
